Qualitative analysis of feminine para powerlifting competitive process
Keywords:

The objective of the research is to explore the perceptions that coaches of athletes in para powerlifting have about the factors that intervene in success in female competition. The participation of women in sports has come a long way to this day, full of challenges and obstacles. The case of para-sports has not been the exception, because even when it is open to both genders, the majority participation is male. However, research and academic efforts by referents such as: Castaño, Montañez, Castiblanco and García (2018) show the importance of sports practice among women not only in terms of physical health, but also for its social and psychological benefits; Among the latter, the promotion of the proper use of free time stands out, as well as freedom of expression and access to new opportunities for personal development. In this competitive process, the coach plays a fundamental role since under his guidance activities related to training and education, as well as management and leadership take place. Through interviews with eleven female coaches for athletes, it was found that they consider that the key to success is based on planned training, support and institutional recognition of female athletes; in the same way, they observe family support as important, as well as the early detection of talents and greater spaces for participation. These findings provide relevant empirical and conceptual evidence on aspects of female participation in para powerlifting.
