Abstract

The objective of the research is to develop a system of educational activities through myofunctional therapy that promotes better speech therapy care for schoolchildren with a short lingual frenulum. In recent decades, myofunctional therapy has aroused interest among speech therapists and speech therapists. Among the antecedents detected in the bibliographic search, references were detected that address what is related to the disorder as well as various techniques for its treatment, however, they do not include myofunctional therapy in their way of working. It is also novel to look at the knowledge offered by Therapeutic Physical Culture in the treatment of this pathology. Various methods and techniques were used, such as analysis-synthesis, inductive-deductive and documentary analysis. As a result of the research, the elaboration of a structured treatment in phases stands out, whose importance lies in re-educating the function of the structures involved, correcting oral habits that trigger alterations in breathing, chewing, swallowing and speech. It is concluded that the relevance and implementation of myofunctional therapy allows a comprehensive approach to the short lingual frenulum, having tongue thrust as a causal and risk factor, as well as the detriment of language and respiratory patterns.
