Abstract
Chronic noncommunicable diseases are the leading cause of death in the adult population. The purpose of this study is to establish the bases to prevent cardiovascular complications, through the evaluation of conventional health parameters in adults practicing sports or intense physical exercise on weekends; As well as to identify the conventional sport activity with less probability of causing an adverse cardiac event. This research corresponds to a descriptive, transversal, non-experimental design with a quantitative approach, where Chi square was used as a statistical method for comparing the frequency of at-risk cases explored among softball and soccer practitioners. Conventional health parameters were also validated for the prevention of cardiovascular complications in 344 adult men over the age of 40, before starting a competitive sporting event. It is proposed the timely detection of abnormal values of vital signs in adults, allowing to warn and guide athletes in advance about the situation of the cardiovascular and respiratory system, to avoid intense physical exercises that put their health at risk. It was observed that one in four adult players with intentions of intense physical exercise presented irregular values in the conventional health parameters related to cardiovascular functioning. There was a significant difference in favor of soccer as having less frequency in the cases of risk than the practitioners of softball.
