Abstract

The formative football requires planning models that optimize the overall performance of young athletes. In this context, the implementation of the ATR model (Accumulation, Transformation, and Realization) was evaluated as a planning strategy for Under-18 players. The objective was to determine the effects of the ATR model on the physical and technical-tactical performance of 24 Under-18 footballers over 12 weeks of training. A pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest was used, applying physical evaluations (strength, VO₂ max, speed, acceleration) and technical assessments (passing, control, shooting, dribbling, and heading). Training sessions were organized into three phases according to the ATR model, prioritizing specific loads in each block. The sample consisted of 24 male competitive Under-18 football players, with homogeneous characteristics in age, competition level, and initial physical conditions. The results showed significant improvements in all evaluated physical variables, with a 14 % increase in explosive strength and an 8.8 % increase in VO₂ max. Additionally, notable technical advancements were observed in skills such as passing, control, and dribbling, with improvements ranging from 28 % to 30 %. Progress was also evident in tactical decision-making and space occupation on the field. These results position the ATR model as an effective, comprehensive, and adaptable alternative for planning in youth football, contributing to the holistic development of players.
