Level of knowledge of wrestling coaches on the methods to assess genetic potential in the selection of sports talents

The present work aims to determine the level of knowledge of wrestling coaches on the methods for the assessment of genetic potential in the selection of sports talents so that the improvement of this process satisfies the demands of the competitive activity of sport in the system of high performance. Among the antecedents of this research are the works of Tamarit, Martínez and Poll (2013), Nodari and Fin (2015), Hernández (2017), Rodríguez, Montenegro and Petro (2017), Gualdrón, Cobos, Castro, Melo, and Argüello (2019). The fundamental methods and techniques used were the review of the Comprehensive Wrestling Sport Preparation Program and the survey applied to 10 wrestling coaches participating in the Yayabo Cup of Sancti Spíritus in April 2019. In general, it was found that hereditary characteristics are considered by 80% of coaches between 5th and 6th place in terms of priority for detection and selection while only 20% use hereditary characteristics as an element for detection and early selection in 5th and 6th place of priority from the observation of the height of the parents, but without using any scientific method that allows him to quantitatively estimate the future height of the child. By way of conclusion, a low knowledge and use by Cuban wrestling trainers of the categories of schoolchildren regarding the subject studied is observed.
