Challenges and opportunities around the legal regime of sports competitions

The objective of this research is to carry out a comprehensive analysis of sports competitions, taking into account its multidisciplinary dimension and the comprehensive growth it has experienced in recent years. Previously, this issue has been addressed by authors such as: Barba Sánchez, R. (2010), Bermejo Vera, J. (2017) or García Caba, M. (2013). Despite these studies, the current legal regime for sports competitions seems not to be adapted to the needs of the future or to the particularities of some sports disciplines. As the first results of this research, the need to update organizational structures and the recognition of new competitive realities in state legislation is confirmed. Besides, the complexity of the sport's organizational system implies the adoption of a transversal response by the legislator, capable of resolving the conflicts that may arise between the agents of the sporting activity. Other goal of this legal analysis regarding the existing challenges and possibilities regarding the organizational framework of sports competitions is to draw practical conclusions that contribute to an improvement in the organizational framework of competitions, all through the use of a method. deductive and a comparative view. Among the most outstanding conclusions of this study, the risk of flight of potential sports talents should be pointed out in the event of the survival of the current structures or possible new legislation of a national nature on sports.
