Abstract

The results of an exercise program applied to improve the pitching mechanics in baseball, with emphasis on the slow torso rotation, for athletes’minor-23 years’ old category, it´s presented. The circumstances that conditioned it were appreciated from the analysis of pre-season to the 63rd Baseball National Series, where athletes in the pitching area showed high levels of inefficiency in their performance, as well as loss of control in the different phases of the actions of pitching, being the stride length ineffectiveness one of the most recurrent. How torso slow rotation could be improved on pitchers minor-23 years’ old category of Santiago de Cuba? Was pointed-out as investigation problem. A cuasiexperiment where different parameters relating torso slow rotation with stride length and their impact into the acceleration phase are studied. The proposal developed was targeted to create better-balanced structures, where equilibrium, stability and weight transference are potentiated. Non-parametric Friedman test, calculated probability was 0,001 valued the increase of the values of pitching speed by periods and their significance for changes. The proposed goal of the investigation based on the design of an exercise system to improve pitching mechanics with particular interest on slow trunk rotation was accomplished.
