Efectos de la actividad física aeróbica moderada en la retención léxica del inglés en universitarios

Resumen

Abordar, desde un enfoque interdisciplinario, la relación entre la actividad física aeróbica moderada y la retención léxica del inglés en estudiantes universitarios, es una necesidad de proponer estrategias innovadoras que favorezcan el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras y, al mismo tiempo, contrarresten el sedentarismo propio del contexto universitario. El objetivo de la investigación es analizar el efecto de un programa de actividad física aeróbica moderada sobre la retención léxica del inglés en estudiantes universitarios. Investigación cuantitativa, con diseño cuasiexperimental (pretest–postest) con un solo grupo (n=30). La intervención consistió en un programa de actividad física aeróbica moderada, aplicado durante un periodo planificado y controlado sobre la retención léxica, la memoria verbal, la atención y el nivel de actividad física. Se obtuvo mejoras significativas. En el Vocabulary Size Test (VST), se vio un aumento considerable entre el pretest/postest (Wilcoxon: Z< −3.40; p< .01), con una mayoría de rangos positivos, lo cual señala que el vocabulario receptivo en inglés aumentó. Asimismo, el Test RAVLT demostró avances notables en la memoria a largo plazo y el aprendizaje verbal (p< .001; Z< −3.60). El d2 Test of Attention mostró un incremento importante en la concentración y la atención selectiva (Z < −3.70; p< .001). Finalmente, el IPAQ mostró una variación importante en cuanto al nivel de actividad física, que pasó de ser bajo a moderado (Z< −3.90; p< .001). La actividad física aeróbica moderada puede ser estrategia de neuroeducación efectiva para mejorar la retención léxica del inglés en alumnos de universidad.
