Therapeutic methodology for the care of elderly people with hemiparesis

Abstract

The objective of this paper was to develop a methodology for the therapeutic care of elderly people with hemiparesis belonging to the “Antonio Maceo” sports team, of the Abel Santamaría popular council, for their incorporation into active social life and optimization of recovery time. Between the antecedents of the treatment to the sequels of cerebrovascular accident stand out the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques, the method of Bobath, and different proposals that go to the attention of individualized way of people carriers of neurological affections. Within the methodology that was used, scientific research methods such as observation, analysis-synthesis and interview and survey techniques were used. Eight older adults were taken as samples, which were evaluated at two moments, with an interval of eight months between them. After satisfactory results were shown, the sequelae resulting from the accident of the stroke were minimized in a short period of attention by the specialists since their movements were more coordinated and precise, allowing them greater independence and performance in the activities of daily life. 100% of the beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction with the proposal, the tests applied showed qualitative and quantitative positive changes at the time of their application. The main conclusions highlighted the importance in terms of the development and application of the methodology, which made it possible to optimize the recovery time and systematic therapeutic care within the family and community.
