The quality of secondary education largely depends on the pedagogical competencies that teachers deploy in the classroom. In the field of physical education and school sports, these competencies acquire particular relevance, as they directly affect session planning, learning progression, collaborative work, and school management. This study aimed to demonstrate the extent to which the implementation of a training program improves the pedagogical competencies of secondary school teachers in a public educational institution in Trujillo during 2025. A quantitative approach was adopted, with a quasi-experimental design, pretest and posttest, and a control group. The sample consisted of 150 teachers: 75 in the experimental group and 75 in the control group. A 24-item questionnaire was used, organized into four dimensions: learning situations, learning progression, teamwork, and school management. The instrument was validated by expert judgment and achieved a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.957. The training program was structured in twelve sessions that combined workshops, training, and pedagogical reflection, with explicit adaptations for the area of physical education and sport. The results showed that, after the intervention, the experimental group significantly increased its scores (t = 26.233; p < 0.0001), while the control group showed no relevant changes. It is concluded that the training program is an effective tool for strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competencies and that its application in the school sports field can contribute to improving the quality of teaching-learning processes.
