Didactic alternatives for teaching catching in under-15 baseball

Abstract

Catchers on the baseball team are essential to successful competitive outcomes. However, it has been identified that in this position of the under-15 category, difficulties are faced in technical-tactical aspects, which negatively impacts collective performance. Furthermore, the need to implement motivating learning procedures that contribute to the development of the skills of these players. The objective of the research was to develop a system of didactic actions to improve the teaching of U-15 baseball catchers. To carry out the study, scientific methods such as analytical-synthetic, systemic-structural-functional, as well as surveys, interviews, observations, descriptive statistics with the SSPS tool were used in the analysis and validation of data collected from the investigative course. It was based on solid pedagogical, psychological and didactic principles, taking into account the psycho-pedagogical characteristics of the recipients at this stage of development. The proposal was adapted to the specific context, by optimizing the material and organizational conditions that articulately address different dimensions of the teaching-learning process in sport. As a result, high levels of satisfaction and motivation were generated among the recipients, which translated into a notable improvement in their technical-tactical performance and sporting results during the competitive environment. This shows that training has become more meaningful and challenging for athletes. Also, the inclusion of participatory activities and the implementation of periodic evaluations have favored the development of tactical and leadership skills among players.
